Graeme McDowell Signs Contract Extension with Srixon

Graeme McDowell

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – September 25, 2013 – Graeme McDowell has agreed to terms on a multi-year contract extension with Srixon® to remain a member of their PGA TOUR staff.  No additional details regarding the contract were made available.  McDowell, winner of the 2010 U.S. Open and 2013 RBC Heritage, is also a nine-time winner on the European Tour.  McDowell will continue to play Cleveland® woods, Srixon® irons, Cleveland® wedges and Srixon® balls.  He will wear a Srixon® hat and glove and carry a Srixon® bag.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled that Graeme has decided to remain a member of Srixon’s PGA Tour staff,” said Todd Harman, President of Cleveland® Golf/Srixon® – U.S.A.  “Graeme is one of those unique individuals who brings so much to the game of golf.  His passion for competition, combined with his love for the game and respect for the fans, has made him the type of ambassador that any company would be honored to have on their staff.  The fact that Graeme has chosen to remain in the Srixon family says an awful lot in regards to how he feels about our products, as well as our company.”

McDowell, also known as G·Mac, was a member of Team Europe during the 2010 and 2012 Ryder Cup, where he contributed significantly toward his team’s dramatic victories over the United States.  G·Mac was voted 2010 Player of the Year by the Golf Writers Association of America and joint 2010 Player of the Year on the European Tour.

“I’m thrilled to remain a member of the Srixon and Cleveland Golf family, one I’ve been part of since my college days” said McDowell.  “I couldn’t be happier with my current bag and I’m playing some of the best golf of my career.  Much of that has to do with their exceptional equipment, coupled with the tremendous support they’ve continually given me.  I’m now looking to taking things forward again and accomplishing many of my professional goals over the coming years.”

McDowell’s G·Mac Foundation works to support children’s medical research in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and the United States.  For more information on The G·Mac Foundation, or to make donations, please visit the charity section at

Interview with Mizuno JPX Invitational Champion Lynette Fitzgerald

So the last few months on social media, golf websites and magazine you probably heard of a little thing Mizuno put on called Play Famously. It gave 12 average golfers the chance to win a spot on the Mizuno JPX team. Golfers were asked to try their new JPX line of clubs and participate through their website by applying for sponsorship with the opportunity to win a whole set of Mizuno JPX woods, irons, wedges, staff bag and all the Mizuno golf swag one could ever ask for leading up to the JPX Invitational held this month in Atlanta, Georgia.

One of the 12 lucky members selected  to #PLAYFAMOUSLY was Lynette Fitzgerald of Reston, VA who I had the great opportunity to interview about not only being selected to play for Team Mizuno but also took home the victory by winning the Mizuno JPX Invitational title. So watch your back LPGA because there’s a new sheriff in town. Also make sure to follow her on Twitter @Girlfriendgolf and checkout her website out at

1. So what’s your background and how long have you been playing golf?lynette fitzgerald
I’m an ex-software engineer turned golfer and blogger. I started seriously playing golf in 2009. I became addicted to it very quickly. I was fortunate enough to be able to quit my job and concentrate on getting better at golf in 2010.

2. How did you first hear about Mizuno’s play famously campaign and what intrigued you to apply?
I first read about Mizuno’s Play Famously campaign in The Golf Wire. I had just bought a set of clubs (another brand) in January and then went and tried the JPX-825 clubs. I liked how I hit them, but there was no way I could buy another set of clubs! When I read about the contest, my first thought was…I never win anything! So I sort of forgot about it. Luckily, one day when I opened my browser…it was still on the Play Famously page. And…luckily it was raining hard that day so I wasn’t practicing or playing golf anyway and thought, what the hell, I’ll enter.

3. Where were you when you first found out you were selected to be on the team?
I was driving to a short game lesson actually when I heard that I had been selected. I normally don’t answer my phone while driving and especially from a number I didn’t recognize, but for whatever reason, I answered the phone. When I figured out who it was, I parked the car and paid full attention to the call. I was just ecstatic!! I couldn’t believe they picked me!!

4. What has it meant to you on being selected to be part of the Mizuno JPX team?
This has been an absolutely amazing experience. I was fitted with amazing clubs, which drove me to practice more to improve my game. I’ve made some amazing friends, other golf nuts that are just as much obsessed with golf as I am. That’s always fun. To share a passion is totally cool. Also, being selected gave me a presence on social media (which is how I met you!!) and that gives me a small platform to share my love of the game and try to encourage others, especially women, to try the game.

5. What is your favorite go to club in the bag?lynette fitzgerald
My favorite club in my bag is my pitching wedge. That’s my money club…about 100 yards out and I confident I can get it close to the hole. Well, get it on the green anyway!!

6. How would you describe your experience playing with the new JPX line and how has it improve your game?
I used to believe that Mizuno’s were for the elite players only and that one day, I would be good enough to play Mizuno clubs. When I found out about their “more forgiving” clubs I was thrilled. When I hit them, I was even more thrilled. I can honestly say my game has improved. I’m hitting these clubs between 5 – 10 yards farther than my previous clubs. But for me, just as important, is that I stand over the ball with confidence now. And that’s a big deal. I know my JPX’s will do what they are designed to do. And I trust that. I just have to put a fairly decent swing on it and my ball will fly. What’s really great, is that if I mishit it, which we all do, the result isn’t as drastic as before. I may be 10 yards offline which is better than 30 yards offline.

7. How does it feel to be the winner of the JPX invitational and do you see yourself playing more tournaments?
The feeling is incredible. Almost indescribable. I still get goosebumps when I think about the accomplishment. I have worked so hard at this game trying to get better and better. Some days it kicks me in the teeth, and other days, like the day I won the tournament, its amazing. I love tournament golf. It’s nerve wracking and will leave you naked on the course at times, but I love it.

8. What golfer do you most admire and look up to?
The golfer I admire and look up to is Tiger Woods.

9. If you could sum up life in one quote what would it be?
“In life, you have to find your happy and then pursue it with a vengeance.”

Official Press Release

“Play Famously” Campaign Highlighting the JPX-825 Game Improvement Irons Finishes With Strong Performances at Country Club of the South

Norcross, Ga. (Sept. 17, 2013) – Amidst the excitement of the PGA Tour’s stretch run, Lynette Fitzgerald of Reston, Va. clinched the 2013 Mizuno JPX Invitational Championship Title culminating the highly successful “Play Famously” campaign at Country Club of the South in Johns Creek, Ga.  Using USGA-based handicaps for all members of Team JPX, Fitzgerald’s 12 handicap produced an impressive net score of even par 72 and a gross score of 84, sinking a six-foot par putt on 18 to seal the victory.

Although it was her first “pro” tournament, Fitzgerald displayed the poise and shot-making skills of a wily LPGA Tour veteran.  Playing the JPX-825 irons, JPX Series Wedge, JPX-825 Woods, Driver and Hybrids, Fitzgerald delivered a solid round that led to a comfortable five-shot victory over Boston, Mass. law student and 17 Handicap, Casey Parent, who finished the tournament with a net 5-over 77 with a gross 94.

“To be honest, I’m not sure what to think right now, I’m at a loss for words.  Winning is truly a surreal feeling and one that I’ll never forget,” said Fitzgerald, Team JPX member.  “Over the past several months Mizuno has provided me with the support and tools necessary to improve my game from on-course tips and video instruction, to world-class golf products.  Being treated like a pro has been a life-changing experience and I owe it all to Mizuno.”

Geared to help the “average joe” golfer improve their game while providing the “pro” treatment as an exclusive member of Team JPX, “Play Famously” sponsored 12 amateur golfers from across the U.S. with Mizuno’s award-winning game-improvement JPX-825 irons – JPX-825 irons, JPX Wedges, JPX-825 Fairway Woods, JPX-825 Driver – and a season’s worth of Mizuno apparel.

“To give amateur golfers across the country the playing stage at the JPX Invitational is something Mizuno is proud and honored to do. We know how important these weekend players are and got to see first-hand how big their heart for golf really is – on and off the course,” said Chuck Couch, VP of Product Management, Golf. “Team JPX played like real ‘pros’ and it was great to see the group in the spotlight displaying their passion for a game they love. We congratulate Lynette Fitzgerald on her JPX Invitational victory.”

The Team JPX members were selected through an online contest at where golfers tried the new JPX-825 irons at participating retailers nationwide, then submitted their feedback on the high performance game-improvement irons through a brief essay, photos and/or videos demonstrating their passion for the game and why they deserved to be on Team JPX. Winners received a complete Mizuno Pro package, including custom fit JPX-825 irons, a Mizuno staff bag personalized with their name, Mizuno apparel and accessories and customized instruction from Team JPX’s “Swing Coach” and PGA Master Teacher, Dr. Gary Wiren.

At the heart of the Play Famously campaign was the JPX-825 line of game-improvement irons, designed to help amateur golfers hit the ball longer, straighter and more accurately.  Over the past several years, starting with the JPX-800 irons, Mizuno has made a splash in the game improvement category by developing irons aimed to help golfers achieve their goals quicker and more efficiently. In traditional Mizuno style, the same painstaking, meticulous attention to detail has been implemented in the game-improvement irons as the well-known and world-class “player” irons. This Fall marks the launch of Mizuno’s latest game improvement irons, the JPX EZ’s slated to hit retailers this month.

Connect with Mizuno on Facebook and Twitter @Golf_Mizuno to be the first to view action shots from the JPX Invitational and receive real-time product and Tour updates.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – September 17, 2013 – Srixon® congratulates staffer and spokesperson Peter Jacobsen for being named the 2013 winner of the Payne Stewart Award. Jacobsen, known for his passion and personality throughout his 37-year PGA TOUR and Champions Tour careers, will be honored tonight during a private reception as part of the festivities at the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola, the culminating event of the FedExCup Playoffs.

The Payne Stewart Award is presented annually to a professional golfer who best exemplifies the values of character, charity and sportsmanship. The past winners have all distinguished themselves through their respect for the game, the TOUR’s tradition of charity and their ability to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Stewart, an 11-time winner on the PGA TOUR and World Golf Hall of Fame member, died tragically the week of the TOUR Championship in 1999.

“I am incredibly humbled to receive such a prestigious award, particularly one that honors a dear friend of mine who was such a remarkable and esteemed individual,” said Jacobsen. “I was extremely lucky to have Payne as a friend, competitor and role model and the best way to carry on his legacy is by upholding the same values he did. Payne taught us all the meaning of sportsmanship and integrity, and I can only hope to pass that on to younger generations the way he did.”

Jacobsen, 59, made his PGA TOUR debut in 1977 and won seven times during his career. Jacobsen also collected 10 other victories, participated on four national teams and has won twice on the Champions Tour. Jacobsen’s most successful year on TOUR came in 1995 when he brought home two PGA TOUR victories and represented the USA in both the Ryder Cup and the Dunhill Cup. Jacobsen served as a player director on the PGA TOUR Policy Board in 1983, 1985, 1992 and 1994.

Jacobsen’s impact in the golf world has been felt outside the ropes as well. He started his work as a golf commentator for ABC-TV, covering the Skins Game throughout the late 80s and early 90s. He covered the 1991 Ryder Cup matches for NBC Sports and, in 2011, joined their golf broadcast team. He also had two shows on the Golf Channel for three seasons each: “Peter and Friends” and “Peter Jacobsen Plugged In.”

In 1989, Jacobsen established Peter Jacobsen SPORTS, LLC, a sports marketing and management firm. Since its inception, the firm has produced more than 250 events worldwide, including the CVS Caremark Charity Classic in Rhode Island. Jacobsen has also served as a principal of the Jacobsen Hardy Golf Course Design Company since 1995, and has co-designed more than 10 golf courses across Oregon, California, Washington, Florida and Texas. Over the last two decades, Jacobsen has written and released two books, “Buried Lies: True Tales and Tall Stories from the PGA TOUR” and “Embedded Balls.”

Jacobsen’s connection to Stewart extended beyond the golf course. The pair, along with Mark Lye, formed the band Jake Trout and the Flounders in the 1980s. The band released two albums, the first in 1988 and the second in 1999, shortly before Stewart’s untimely death.

Giving back to local and national communities has always been incredibly important to Jacobsen, and he feels particularly connected to nonprofit organizations that focus on children’s health and education and to organizations that work to improve the quality of life for military veterans. Over the years, he has given his time and resources to support nonprofits such as Devin’s Destiny, The First Tee, Folds of Honor, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Lines for Life, Summit Golf Foundation and Wounded Warrior Project.

Since 1989, Peter Jacobsen SPORTS-managed events have contributed more than $40 million to various nonprofits around the United States, including Albertina Kerr Centers, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, I Have A Dream Foundation, March of Dimes, Randall Children’s Hospital and The First Tee.

Jacobsen and his wife Jan have been married for 37 years and have three children and two grandchildren.

Steal Of The Day: Mizuno MP-T4 Wedge 15% Off

CLICK HERE FOR THE DEAL AT IN THE HOLE GOLFmizuno-mp-t4-white-satin-wedge-2

Today’s steal of the day comes from In The Hole Golf where you can get a brand new Mizuno MP-T4 wedge for 15% off with FREE SHIPPING with coupon code SUM15 instead of $129.95. This is a great deal to snag a Mizuno wedge with the season winding down.

Feedback from the Tour led Mizuno’s R&D department to create a sole grind with softer edges. The teardrop profile was modified to be more rounded and less punishing on turf interaction. Although overall sole relief was retained, the absence of defined edges allows the MP-T4 to pass through the turf in a more consistent fashion.

A full length slot to the back of the MP-T4 allows mass to be moved both into the sole and upper portion of the blade. Creating a head that pinches the ball easily from the turf, without ballooning in flight.

The MP-T4 produces an elevated level of backspin – possible through Mizuno’s loft specific Quad Cut Groove concept, which uses different groove profiles on different lofts. A wider, shallower groove is used on 56-60 degree models to assist traction on the shorter, partial strikes. Over 50-54 degrees, QUAD CUT uses a narrower, deeper configuration, suitable for fuller shots where the ball has a chance to more fully compress. A high traction CNC milled face adds even more traction.

As with the MP iron line, MP-T4 wedges are Grain Flow Forged at Mizuno’s exclusive Hiroshima facility and can be custom assembled to match a prescribed specification. Two finishes are available – soft Black Nickel and the more durable White Satin chrome plate.

Product Review: Nike VR S Covert Driver

Have you have narrowed down your new driver purchase to the Nike VR S Covert and maybe a few other options at your local shop? You are memorized by the new red head with a cavity-looking cutout Nike Swoosh and want to play the same driver as Tiger Woods. This is the new Nike VR S Covert driver that packs in some fresh technology that will help you stand out in the crowd.

Nike has been baking this up in the Oven and has been seen in local shops and the PGA Tour for the past year. This however is a great time to purchase the club because golf season and prices are winding down on the Nike VRS Covert and Covert Tour models.

I tested the Nike VR S Covert driver with the stock MRC Kuro Kage Black 50 shaft.

Product Details:Nike Covert

Nike Golf’s most innovative club to date, the Nike VR_S Covert Tour Driver delivers unprecedented distance, control and forgiveness with the first-ever conforming high-speed cavity back design.

High-speed cavity back technology delivers longer and straighter shots. Utilized in drivers for the first time, this technology positions the weight of the golf club at the heel and toe to enhance forgiveness and add even more distance to off-center shots. The result is more stability at impact for greater distance and control.

The FlexLoft adjustability system allows you to independently choose your loft and face angle to fit your swing and maximize your distance. This easy-to-use system offers 15 different options in one single club to meet the demands of various swings and course conditions.

NexCOR Face Technology produces faster, longer shots across a wider area of the face. With a hot zone that’s 45 percent larger, NexCOR creates more speed at impact with a variable face thickness that moves the sweet spot higher-from the heel of the club to the center high-where golfers are most likely to make impact.

More Benefits

  • Golf Digest 2013 Hot List award winner
  • 460cc head adjustable from 8.5 to 12.5 degrees of loft, and three face angle positions
  • Deep face head for distance and workability
  • Mitsubishi Rayon Kuro Kage Black 50 shaft

Product Review:

Look 10/10:

With all the different colored drivers on the market from black, white, red, green, blue, etc. I think the red Nike Covert driver is one of my favorite club looks of 2013. I know the red might seem a lot for you to stomach but come on, you gotta admit it does look pretty sweet with the large white Nike swoosh on the crown of this driver towards the heel.

The biggest difference you will see of the Nike Covert driver compared to others on the market is the significant cavity cut out of the back of the club to help with miss hits and add forgiveness. My favorite thing on this driver, and what originally intrigued me, is the full loft adjustment allowing it to go from 8.5 all the way up to 12.5. This makes it so you’re not just locked in at one loft or only a few small adjustments. They have given you the whole range of complete adjust-ability making it stand out from the rest. I love the look of this driver, and give the overall look of the Nike VR S Covert driver a 10/10.

Feel 7/10:

This is probably one of the biggest differences I noticed with this driver compared to all the others I have used, including last year’s Nike VR S driver. I really wanted this club to feel amazing but just doesn’t feel as great as my Cleveland Classic XL Custom Driver or last year’s Nike VR S model. I think it could be the difference with having the cavity back and all the weighting stripped from the back of the Covert driver. Also the sound of this club seems a little off compared to last year’s VR S when hit on different parts of the NexCOR face. I give the overall feel a 7/10.

Distance 8/10:

Nike is bringing speed to the game at another level with their new Covert cavity-back designed driver. We all know that Speed = Distance in golf and with the addition of the cavity-back the Covert cuts through the air like a hot knife through butter. I was seeing good numbers and solid speed readings on the SwingSmart while testing this club. If you are seeking a driver to get longer off the tee then the Nike Covert is right for you by delivering punishing drives you can deliver on any fairway on the course. I give the overall distance rating an 8/10.

Adjustability/Workability 9/10:

When you think of adjustability for drivers in 2013 no wonder the Covert received a Gold Medal for this driver. Innovation from The Oven has made one of the most original adjustability options on the market. You are no longer stuck in a world of the same degree driver with little to no options. How about a driver that can be completely adjusted from an 8.5 loft for those rounds at Kingsbarns to a 12.5 loft when wanting to let it fly high in Maui winds and the ability to adjust the face open and closed? This is what Nike has done and taken adjustability to a whole new level, setting a new standard for other companies to follow. Nike has truly launched a game-changer to the world of golf.

The workability of this driver is pretty decent but I would like to see how they refine this driver in the future especially if they decide to keep the Covert design or move in a different direction. This driver is suitable for all handicaps. I give the overall workability/adjustability rating a 9/10.

Overall Rating 34/40:

Overall I am pretty stoked on the new Nike Covert driver. The development team at the Nike Oven are doing a great job with creating new and innovative breakthroughs for the world of golf. The Nike Covert is a great driver and would recommend it to anyone wanting to add a new weapon to their bag. I believe anyone who purchases this driver will hit it longer and shoot better scores. I hope Nike continues to find ways to make this club even better in the future.

New Nike VR Forged Pro Combo Irons

Control, Consistency and Shot-shaping Precision: Nike VR Forged Pro Combo ironsVR_Forged_Pro_Combo

– New polymer-filled pocket cavity delivers higher trajectory with forgiveness, superior sound and feel –

BEAVERTON, Ore. (September 11, 2013) –Nike Golf serves up a winning combination of precision and workability with the new VR Forged Pro Combo irons, designed to deliver higher ball trajectory, forgiveness, and enhanced sound and feel.

Purposefully crafted as a progressive set for the better player, the VR Forged Pro Combo irons feature a pocket cavity in the long irons, 3 through 6, and split cavity in the shorter irons, 7 through pitching wedge. The pocket cavities allow for a higher trajectory so shots land softly on the greens, while the forged split cavity clubs are designed for a penetrating precision ball flight, which allows athletes to be more target-oriented with every shot.

Based on feedback taken directly from the Swoosh’s stable of global athletes who are seeking the ultimate in sound and feel, Nike Golf engineers added polymer – which the engineers at The Oven affectionately refer to as “shot-making gel” – into the pocket of the long irons, 3 through 6. The result: A pure sound and feel at impact, similar to that of a traditional blade or split cavity, with the benefit long iron forgiveness and more ball speed. The 7 iron through pitching wedge feature a split cavity design, with a profile similar to a blade at address.

“Our Tour athletes wanted higher ball flight and better gapping in the long irons,” says Tony Dabbs, Nike Golf Global Product Director, Golf Clubs. “We added the polymer to create a Tour-caliber set with long irons that are easier to hit, and players still see the profile they want at address without compromising on look, feel and sound.”

The VR Forged Pro Combo irons feature the latest version of high-frequency X3X grooves, which deliver optimal spin on longer and shorter shots coming into the green.

Nike Golf partnered with True Temper and Dynamic Gold to launch the new DG Pro shaft, featured in every VR Forged Pro Combo iron for a progressive set with various weighting, step-patterns and overall bend profiles. Longer irons produce higher ball flight, and shorter irons are more penetrating.

Product Review: Srixon ZStar XV with SpinSkin Golf Balls

I was able to get my hands on the new Srixon Z-Star XV golf balls before they were launched August 8th and playing with them the last couple weeks I think they have done a superb job with the new line of Z-Stars with SpinSkin. They come in pure white and tour yellow both of which have helped Will Wilcox and Russell Knox shot the elusive 59. The mantra of Srixon is #playabetterball and it can’t be further from the truth. I believe after playing these you will also give up your Titleist ProV1’s after giving them a shot. I am such a fan of these balls I have even bought a dozen to give away by signing up on the form below to win 1 of 4 sleeves. A random drawing will be held September 15th and 4 lucky winners will also get the chance to playabetterball.

2013 Srixon Z-Star XV with SpinSkin Golf Balls

Bomber Rating 10/10srixon-z-star-new

If you have a swing speed and looking for a ball that goes a mile than the Srixon Z-Star XV with SpinSkin is here to the rescue. If you are currently playing a Titleist Pro V1 X or Nike 20XI-X than this ball will be right in your wheelhouse. In combination of the Cleveland Classic Custom XL driver and Srixon XV I have seen even more distance than ever before. This ball will give everything you want on a penetrating flight that not only flies straight but a mile down the fairway. So if you have been looking for a ball to finally out drive your playing partners than you need to try the Srixon Z-Star XV and can thank me later on Twitter for being able to shoot better scores while crushing drives. I give the overall bomber rating of this ball a 10/10.

Approach Rating 9/10

The approach of the Srixon Z-Star XV is right on point with the new addition of their trademarked SpinSkin cover. This ball is very workable giving you full control of being able to knock shots close which will lead to better scores. This ball compared to last years model checks up a lot quicker around the greens to be prepared to dial in yardages even better without having to worry about it releasing through the green. I give the overall approach rating of 9/10.

Spin Rating 10/10

SpinSkin is real and its hear to stay. If you haven’t heard about this technology yet than you are about to be hit with some truth. This has to be on of the best advancements in spin technology on the market. The trademarked coating helps increase friction by 20% giving you total control over this ball into greens that require precise distance control and spin. This ball also is actually really fun to mess around with around the greens.Spin Skin

It is great to have a higher swing speed ball that performs around the green as good as the XV because most times when using this type of ball you sacrifice spin control for distance. Even better is how the XV spin off the driver is low to help give you those extra yards. I don’t know how they are able to achieve this it’s either magic or some science schemed up by Bill Nye the Science Guy but to the development team here’s a virtual high five your way. Srixon gives you everything you want in one ball which is hard for other companies to say when selling balls. I give the overall spin rating of 10/10.

Feel Rating 9/10

Srixon has delivered on your request of having a great feeling ball with their Z-Star series especially in the XV model. I prefer balls that are firmer off the putter and this is exactly what I am looking for when on the greens. Keeping it simple this ball feels great and I give the overall feel rating a 9/10.

Overall Summary and Grade 38/40

If you are looking to play a better ball and haven’t ever considered playing a Srixon ball since it feels unfamiliar to your usual brands than you really need to give it a shot. Don’t be scared of change since you might even be playing a golf ball made by a tire company right now (I’m looking at you Bridgestone). You want a ball made by a golf company with a solid reputation and Srixon is proving that it is a leader in the golf ball market.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – August 8, 2013 – Srixon is pleased to announce the latest addition to its Z-STAR series golf balls favored by world tour professionals, as well as other competitive golfers. The new 2013 Z-STAR series is the most technically advanced tour performance golf ball Srixon has ever developed. The new Z-STAR and Z-STAR XV provide two distinct tour offerings that have been re-designed, re-calculated and re-formulated to produce the best balance of tour performance across all clubs in the bag.

In response to the rigorous demands of tour pros and competitive golfers around the world, the new Srixon Z-STAR series delivers greater advances in spin control and softness, while improving the flight characteristics that have won both balls high acclaim. The surface of the new Z-STAR ball series employs Srixon’s newly developed Spin Skin™, which enables players to hit short approach shots with plenty of backspin, while experiencing a softer feeling as the clubface grips the ball. Srixon’s new Spin Skin, which is two times softer than any previous Srixon coating, helps create a 20% increase in frictional force between the ball and clubface, which leads to greatly enhanced spin performance. Srixon’s Spin Skin enables tour professionals and top players to put just the right amount of backspin on their approach shots.

The Z-STAR ball features a brand new Energy Gradient Growth™ (EGG™) large-diameter core with newly developed additives for more contrast between outer hardness and inner softness, resulting in more lift, less spin and longer flight distances. The new Z-STAR XV features a new Neo EGG™ large-diameter, two-layer core with increased contrast between outer hardness and inner softness, which delivers more lift and less spin for a quicker launch and greater overall flight distances.

The Z-STAR series, with its newly developed 344 Speed Dimple™ design, helps reduce air resistance for improved flight performance, resulting in a strong, long-carrying trajectory that can conquer even strong headwinds to deliver greater flight distances. Srixon’s new 344 Speed Dimple design increased the ratio of dimples to surface area of the golf ball by more than 4%, making it possible to play more aggressive golf under all conditions.

“We’re extremely excited about the new Z-STAR series,” said Chris Beck, Brand Manager for Srixon. “We’ve had an astonishing run on tour this year with the new Z-STAR balls, which have already garnered more than 40 worldwide wins, three majors and even two rounds of 59.”

The Z-STAR and the Z-STAR XV will carry a MAP price of $44.99, and are both available in Pure White or Tour Yellow.
